Care

Location and light

The ZZ plant thrives best in bright, indirect light. However, it also copes well with partially shaded to shaded spots and less light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can damage the leaves.

Watering and soil

Zamioculcas has low water requirements and can withstand longer dry periods. Water roughly every 8–10 days and let the top layer of soil dry out completely beforehand. Be sure to avoid waterlogging, as it can cause root rot. Well-draining soil is ideal, for example a mix of regular potting soil and perlite.

Fertilising

During the growing season from spring to autumn, fertilising every two months with a balanced liquid fertiliser, diluted according to the instructions on the pack, is sufficient. Less is more here – this way you avoid over-fertilising.

Use in the home

Whether living room, bedroom or office – thanks to its adaptability to different light conditions and its tolerance of neglect, the ZZ plant fits into almost any interior. It is also regarded as an air-purifying houseplant.

Origin and shipping

Zamioculcas originally comes from the dry, shady regions of East Africa, such as Kenya and Tanzania. We pack your plant in a sturdy box specially developed for houseplants: plant and soil are protected by a cover and secured in the box, so that your ZZ plant arrives fresh, healthy and undamaged.
